Despite exercise and a healthy diet, excess fat in stubborn areas can be an problem for both men and women. Sometimes these fatty areas just don’t want to budge but liposuction can seem a remedy too drastic. This is when our Aqualyx Treatments will help to remove those stubborn areas of excess fat!
An alternative to liposuction is Aqualyx: a treatment for fat reduction that eliminates stubborn fat deposits in often difficult areas such as the chest, the outer and inner thighs and the face.
Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections is a specially formulated, chemical solution that is injected into the problem area by an expertly qualified doctor. This operates by binding to the the fatty deposits, breaking them down over time. The fat is then dissolved by the body naturally, and flushed out. Results are effective, swift, and minimally invasive.
A solution is injected into the localised deposits of tissue into areas which liquefies the fat cell and destroys it permanently. The lipids (contents of the fat cells) are then released and eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.
It’s effective and minimally invasive, unlike liposuction which requires invasive surgery, general anaesthetic and significant downtime after treatment.
Results are fast but it’s recommended to have between two and five sessions to see a significant effect. Younger patients are more likely to see results after a longer period of time.
This treatment can only be performed by a qualified doctor or surgeon because it follows a strict and precise treatment protocol. Aqualyx Lipotherapy uses specialised needles to administer the solution into the fat deposits and therefore should only ever be carried out by medical professionals who have had special training with the product.
You will be required to have a full consultation with us before treatment, but generally this treatment is not suitable for those classed as clinically overweight and those aged under 18 or over 60.
Desobody is a product used for a treatment called injection lipolysis. Lipolysis literally means fat-dissolving and that is what the injection of Desobody into targeted areas will do over a course of treatments. The active ingredient is called sodium deoxycholate (deoxycholic acid) which is a special medical detergent which breaks down fat cells. It has a concentration of 1.25% sodium deoxycholate in Desobody.
Treatment with Desobody uses a thin cannula (non-sharp needle) which is placed under the skin through a single insertion point. This means that we can evenly deliver the active ingredient in a fan-like pattern across the whole area where we are wanting to dissolve the fat cells.
The amount of Desobody needed will depend on the size of the area(s) being treated. Each session will take around 45 minutes, with only mild discomfort as a local anaesthetic is used to numb the area. Following treatment, you can expect some redness and swelling as the product gets to work on disrupting the fat cells, so they release their contents.
There may also be some bruising and mild to moderate pain in the first 24-72 hours, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain medications like paracetamol. Over the coming weeks your body will slowly metabolise and expel the released lipids from the fat cells.
Repeat treatment is required, and depending on the area being treated, we recommend 2-4 sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart, for optimum results and fat reduction.
